A coal power plant which has no air pollution control system generally emits a huge quantity of the following pollutants;
- Suspended particles or particulates. This includes ashes
- Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) and SOx
- Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) and NOx
- Carbon Dioxide (CO2)

Also, an ash from burnt coal contains a significant quantity of Mercury which is hazardous to both human and animal.
