The 6MW Baligatan Hydroelectric Power Plant in Ramon, Isabela

Just for us to be more knowledgeable about our industry, I`ll give some general information about the existing and decommissioned power plants in the Philippines. Some of them might not be as big as a hundred of Megawatt Plant, but still, it is interesting to know. Let’s start with the Baligatan Hydro Plant in Isabela.

Owned and operated by NIA, 6 MW Baligatan mini-hydroelectric power plant is located in Ramon, Isabela and was commissioned on 1987. It generates electricity from the water stored in the Magat Reservoir and deliver its output power to the 69 kV transmission line of Transco.

The plant is well maintained and still capable to generate at its rated output power. We’ve visited this plant on March 23, 2006.
