The Ink and Paper Consuming Fax Spam
Lately, I noticed that our company’s facsimile machine or fax machine has been constantly bombarded by these unsolicited advertisements from various companies, promoting their product and services, within our area.
Before, I thought that it is only the mailbox that can be targeted by spams. We call it “email spams”. Now, I realized that fax machine can also be attacked by fax spammers.
The effect of fax machine spamming is worse than email spamming because it cost you for the ink, and paper for the printing of the spammed messages. And the worst that it can cause is the hard time filtering all of the fax messages and finding the authentic ones, and it can only be done manually. It can also keep your line busy such that it may block any incomming important fax messages.
Currently, there is no available tools for the filtering and blocking of fax spam messages, unlike for email. The only way to stop these unsolicited advertisements and messages is to change the fax number.
Fax Spam is illegal in the United States. It is punishable by a $500 per instance fine
