Adsense/Adwords is now used for below-the-belt political campaigns/accusations
A few weeks ago, we discussed how the Google’s Adwords and Adsense program is being discovered and use by politicians in the Philippines for their political campaigns. We mentioned that this kind of campaign seems allowed by the Adwords/Adsense term of use and program policy.
However, I was stunned by another, I think, political campaign purportedly pointing to the website of Mark Jimenez, a former Congressman. However, unlike Bayani Fernando’s political campaign, I think, this alleged political campaign of Mark Jimenez is a full-blown below-the-belt accusation, which is clearly a violation of Adwords Program Policy which states;
“We allow political ads regardless of the political views they represent. Stating disagreement with, or campaigning against, a candidate for public office, a political party, or a public administration is generally allowed. However, political ads cannot include accusations or attacks relating to an individual’s personal life, nor can they advocate against a protected group.”
See the screenshot of the inquirer.net Adsense ad below, which says that, the way I understand it, “The r*pist of 11-yr old girl is supported by morally corrupt. Manny Villar, Gibo Teodoro and Erap”
And the website banner of the alleged website of Mark Jimenez and the landing page of the Adsense ad;
