Surfing the internet through mobile phone or cell phone is becoming as easier as surfing using a laptop or a personal computer.
As the technology further develops, the capability of the cell phones is increasing towards the capability of a laptop or personal computers. Such capabilities are MS Office-like processing, installation of high-end applications, gaming, internet browsing, etc. On the other hand, laptop or notebook computers, today, are trying to adopt the features of a cell phone, like smaller size, and of course, SMS messaging and two way communication.
Almost all of the cell phones today have a built-in internet browser. You can also install a more sophisticated internet browser application, like Opera Mini, which has faster download / upload, and some computer-internet-browser-like capabilities. There are also some specific services in the internet, like Gmail Mobile, that offer mobile application tools for better and convenient accessibility through mobile phone.
The service charging of the mobile service provider can be on a per Kb or time based. In the Philippines, for example, Globe Telecom charges Php0.15 (USD0.0032) per Kb of data transferred. This is through GPRS connections, but there are also cell phones today that offer internet browsing capability through Wifi; it should be faster and cheaper but hotspots might be limited.
