How to Avoid Virus and Spyware Infection through USB Flash and External Drives

As the USB flash drives or thumb drives replaces 2.5 floppy discs as convenient and portable file storage, like the floppy disc, USB drive has also become a common mode of transmitting computer viruses and spywares from PC to PC. One unfortunate thing here is that most of the sophisticated anti-virus and anti-spywares nowadays cannot detect and catch all such viruses. Though, there are times that such anti-viruses are able to detect some viruses, sometimes (or most of the time), it leaves other kind of viruses undetected and be able to penetrate your computer and do the annoying tricks and havoc. Here’s how; Read the entire entry …

The Next Generation of Computer “Disk” Storage will be Solid State Disk (SSD)

Solid state storage is commonly used before for RAM and card/USB removable drives but as the technology revolutionized, some computer manufacturers found its best application as a permanent computer storage device to replace the usual hard disk drive.  Read the entire entry …

Why MERALCO is “Right” and Why you Should not Vote for Loren Legarda

I always get pissed every time a politician in the Philippines is buying the idea that MERALCO is wrong in purchasing most of its energy requirement from its IPPs – First Gas Holdings Corporation and QPPL Limited. According to them, the cost of power of NPC is much “lower”. Read the entire entry …

The President is Mandated by Law to Reduce Royalties and Taxes on Power

I don’t know why after these throwing of accusations and blames on why the cost of electricity in the Philippines is high – there are the issues of system loss, cross ownership, WESM, transmission charges, and NPC stranded cost – the President of the Philippines, herself, is not doing her part that is, actually, mandated to her by the Law that she, herself, signed in 2001 to drastically reduced the electricity rates. Napocor Overcharging MERALCO by 2.98 Percent?

It seems that, based on the Senate investigation today, and as I was also expecting, MERALCO is not the only one “responsible” to this, so called, “high cost of electricity” in MERALCO franchise area, which covers Metro Manila. Napocor (NPC) and TransCo are also “involved”, as well. High transmission charges, generation adjustments and stranded cost are some of the issues that were brought about to these two government corporations.

And speaking of Napocor, here is an issue that seems remained silent and may only be known to some industry participants for almost two years now Read the entire entry …
