Bolts and Nuts Made of Wood

If you think that bolts and nuts in this age of high-end tool technology is more effective if made of high strength metals, you’re wrong!

In the photo below, a set of bolts and nuts is, actually, made of wood and used to bolt the wooden support structure a 75-ton core and winding of a 100 MVA power transformer. The wooden support structure, as well as bolts and nuts that are made of wood is more practical to be used in an electrical power transformer because, unlike metals, it is not a conductive material and will not induce eddy current losses.
