Combined Transformer Type – Current and Voltage Transformers
This is a Magrini Galileo Combined Transformer Type instrument transformer installed in a 230 kV switchyard and used for metering purposes. The equipment is composed of a Current Transformer (CT) and Voltage Transformer (VT) (or Potential Transformer (CT)) in a single bushing and installation.

The Voltage Transformer here is a Coupling Capacitor Voltage Transformer (CCVT) type. Unlike the typical transformer that steps-down voltage through induced voltage in the windings, CCVT uses series of capacitors and configured as a “voltage divider” to step-down the voltage into a safe and usable level.
