Splitting Water into Oxygen and Hydrogen using Under Water Pressure

This is the content of a news article that was send to our office when I was still working there. It tells about some other technique of splitting water into oxygen and hydogen such that the latter can be use as a renewable energy source and as an alternative to fossil fuels that we are currently using. Unlike the already known methods of splitting oxygen and hydrogen from water, like electrolysis, the article says that an extremely high pressure can be also use to split the water to produce hydrogen fuels. And such extemely high pressure can be attained, naturally, at the sea beds of the Philippine Thrench and other ocean depths around the world. It says that the pressure underneath the Philippine Thrench is high enough to split water into oxygen and hydrogen. That is, according to the article, which encourages the Philippine Government to explore such possibilities, the Philippines owns a great source of renewable hydrogen in the depth of the Pacific Ocean near the Philippines.

I was facinated with this kind of “discovery” such that it keeps me finding proofs in the internet. For me, the theory seems to be technically sound and can find a basis. And assuming this is true, the Philippines and the rest of the world will now be free from the conventional source of energy that causes pollution and degradation of the environment to a clean and renewable source of energy, that is hydrogen. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find one to give a concrete proof to this claim. This gave me confusion wether this article is a just a hoax or an untold descovery.
