How to Increase Google Adsense Cost Per Click

Google Adsense is an advertising program of Google which replaced the old banner advertising and currently, the most popular and lucrative advertising solution in the internet. It`s a pay per click advertising where the publisher earns for every valid (take note of that) clicks on the advertisement. The cost per click (CPC) varies from as low as $0.02 to some $xx.xx. That is, the CPC varies depending on the targeted keywords of the advertisement. Based from some Filipino webmasters and Adsense publisers, the CPC of the Philippine targeted is relatively low compaired to non-Philippine targeted advertisement. Base on some Filipino adsense publishers’ experience, most of the time, CPC on Philippine targeted advertisement has an average of $0.05 to $0.06.

A few weeks ago, after I reduced the number of advertisement for the fear that it may affect my search engine ranking in Yahoo and MSN, I observed that CPC of my advertisement has increase by about 50%, on the average. I suddenly concluded, with some comment from webmaster`s forums, that it may be because of the following reason;

1. The cost per click depends on the location and intended appearance of the advertisement. That is, if you intend to put the advertisement such that the internet user may be able to know that it is really an advertisement, you will probably get a higher cost per click rather that designing your advertisement to deceive the internet user that it is part of your content. A scrapper site, as most of the webmasters called them, use these strategy. Trying to blend the advertisement to the content of their website that is solely created for Adsense advertisement purposes. And base from what i`ve read in a forum, one of the adsense advertiser (Adwords), this kind of site enable them to bid for an advertisement for as low as $0.05 cpc. And I think that simply concludes my theory.
So, my first advise is to design the adsense advertisement such that it doesn`t seem to deceive the internet user that it is part of your content.
How to do that? 1.) Place it away from your content but not very far, maybe just put it in a different cell or table. 2.) Dont camouflage your Adsense to the design of your website.
I`m not saying that it will work for everyone but I`ve done this method and it works for me. It slightly reduced the number of clicks but significantly increased the CPC. But don’t just do that for the sake of the advertisement, I`m so sure it will improve the quality of your website.

2. CPC depends on the number of advertisement. Google allow publishers to put up to 3 contextual advertisement, 2 searchsite, and 1 link ad in one page. And some of the publisher fully utilize that for the expectation that it will increase their number of clicks and thereby increase their revenue. But I think it will not work. What it surely does is it totally degrades the quality of your website thereby annoyed your users and make them not anymore interested in your website and all its content. Therefore, it will not help you achieve goal of having more clicks. But even if you gain clicks out of that overwhelming number of advertisements, I`m very sure it has low CPC. Why? Simply because of having so much advertisements, you are also advertising advertisement from a low CPC bidder together with the higher one. Take note that these advertisers advertise base on a biding process. If you will just put atmost 4 advertisements (banner) you are so much sure that these for advertisers are the first four highest bidders and surely has high CPC.

Before, I use to put 1 banner with 4 advertisement in it and 1 link ad with 5 links. Last week, I remove the link ad then, Boom!!! my CPC increases. And that scenario help me make a conclusion like this.
