About Me
People around me called me “Alfie“. I was born in the small town of Infanta, Quezon Province and lived the first 17 years of my life there.
I’m a Registered Electrical Engineer in the Philippines, “21st placer” in the Board Exam, unfortunately, only top 20 are being recognized (if you have sense humor, you will know how it became a joke). My profession specializes on the field of power systems, which includes the generation, transmission, distribution, utilization, and economics of electric energy. I also have knowledge on computer programming, and web development.
I graduated with a degree of B.S. Electrical Engineering in the University of the Philippines in Diliman in 2004. I`m currently taking up Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Major in Power Systems at the same University.
I’m currently working as an Engineer in one of the Independent Power Plants (IPP) in the Philippines. I get involve in various projects and activities of our company which includes technical support to our existing power plants, technical due diligence of existing plants for privatization, development of green field projects, and renewable energy projects.
I had worked as a technical assistant for a consultancy of my previous professors. That time, We developed a computer program as an engine for the power flow and technical loss segregation of the system losses of the distribution utilities in the Philippines. My favorite work is the one that involves the search of the global state where the first derivative of the objective function is zero. It involves a lot of fields - a depth understanding of the problem and how the system works, engineering judgment, mathematical modeling and computer programming. It’s all in one.
